Create your agency and add your first client
Your agency is the account that everything in Handl lives inside — clients, projects, quotes, and invoices. Setting it up takes a couple of minutes, and adding your first client only requires a company name.
- Go to the sign-up page and choose to sign up with email or with Google.
- Enter your full name, your agency name, your email address, and a password (or continue with Google, which skips the password step).
- If you signed up with email, check your inbox and verify your email address before you can log in. Google sign-in skips this step.
- Once you're in, you'll land on a short onboarding flow with three steps: Profile, Agency, and Integrations. If you add your company website, Handl will try to pull in your company details and branding automatically. Any step can be skipped and finished later in Settings.
- From your dashboard, go to Clients → Add New Client.
- Enter the client's company name — this is the only required field. You can also add an email, phone number, website, business registration number, a primary contact, an accounts contact, additional contacts, and a billing address.
- Set the client's portal preferences — whether they can use the AI assistant chat, and how much project detail they can see (from a summary only, through to full task detail).
- Save the client.
Good to know
- Adding a client doesn't automatically invite them to anything — you invite individual contacts to the client portal later, from the client's page.
- Only the company name is required. Everything else can be filled in now or added later.
- You can add as many additional contacts as you need for a client (for example, a marketing lead and a finance contact).
FAQs
Can I change my agency name later?
Yes, from your agency settings at any time.
Do I need to invite my client to a portal straight away?
No — you can add a client's details first and send a portal invite to a specific contact whenever you're ready.
What happens if I don't verify my email?
You won't be able to log in until you do — check your spam folder if the verification email doesn't arrive.
