Connect Stripe and get paid
To collect card and bank payments directly through Handl, connect a Stripe account to your agency. It only takes a few minutes, and you can still send quotes and invoices before it's done.
- Go to Settings → Billing and find the Receive Payments section.
- Select Connect Stripe Account.
- Follow the on-screen steps to enter your business and banking details. This happens inside Handl, so you don't need to leave the app (there's also an option to complete the same steps directly on Stripe's site if you prefer).
- Once submitted, your account status will show as Setup Required while Stripe reviews your details.
- When Stripe finishes verifying your account, your status changes to Connected and you're ready to accept payments.
From Settings → Billing you can always see your current status, and jump to your Stripe Dashboard for payout details once you're connected.
Good to know
- You don't have to wait for Stripe to finish before using Handl — you can create clients, projects, quotes, and invoices without a connected account. You just won't be able to take online card or bank payments until it's connected.
- If Stripe needs more information from you (for example, extra identity verification), your status shows as Restricted with a list of what's outstanding. Provide the missing details to reactivate it.
- Agencies that only take bank transfers outside Handl can still use the platform for quotes, milestones, and invoicing without connecting Stripe.
FAQs
Does Stripe charge me separately from Handl?
Stripe's standard processing costs and Handl's own platform fee (see "Handl's platform fees") both apply to payments taken through Handl — there's no separate Stripe subscription to manage.
Can more than one person on my team see the Stripe connection details?
Anyone with access to Settings → Billing can see the connection status; talk to your Owner or Admin if you need access.
What happens to money my clients pay?
Payments go to your connected Stripe account and are paid out to your bank account on Stripe's normal payout schedule.
