Convert an approved quote into milestones

Once a client approves a quote, its line items don't automatically become billable milestones — you convert them yourself, choosing exactly which items turn into milestones on the project.

Open the project and go to its quotes/agreements list.
Find the quote marked Approved and select Convert to Milestones.
In the dialog that opens, tick which line items from the quote you want to convert.
Confirm the conversion. Handl creates one milestone per selected line item, using the same name, description, and amount from the quote.

The new milestones appear in the project's Milestones tab and on the roadmap, ready for you to set or adjust their estimated dates.

Good to know

Conversion only becomes available once the quote has been approved by the client.
You can only convert a given quote to milestones once — if you need to add more milestones afterward, create them directly on the project.
Once a quote has been converted, its approval can no longer be reverted without first removing the milestones it generated — this protects billing records that may already be in progress.

FAQs

Do I have to convert every line item on the quote?
No — you choose which items become milestones; you can leave some out if they shouldn't be billed separately.

What if I approve a quote but never convert it?
Nothing happens automatically — the quote stays approved and the project active, but no milestones are created until you convert it.

Can I still revert the approval after converting?
Not directly — you'd need to remove the milestones that were generated first. See "Revert an approval" for details.
