Choosing which features are enabled per project
Choosing which features are enabled per project
Not every project needs every part of Handl. You can switch specific features on or off per project, so each one shows only the tabs and tools that are actually relevant.
- When creating a project, use the Features step in the New Project wizard to choose which features it starts with.
- To change this later, open the project, go to Project Settings, and select the Features tab.
- Toggle each feature on or off:
- Quotes — create and send quotes to the client for approval before starting work.
- Timesheets — track time entries and connect external timesheet tools for billing and reporting.
- Tasks / Project Management — connect a project-management tool to track tasks, sync progress, and link work to milestones.
- Deliverables held until payment — attach files or links to milestones and invoices; the client can see what they're getting, and it unlocks automatically once the related invoice is paid.
- Save your changes — the project's tabs update immediately to match.
Good to know
- Milestones and Invoices aren't part of this toggle list — Milestones always show on Fixed Price and hybrid billing projects, and Invoices always show unless the project is internal.
- Turning a feature off hides its tab, but doesn't delete any existing data in it — turn it back on later and everything is still there.
- New projects start with these features switched off by default, so review the Features step when setting up a project rather than assuming everything is on.
FAQs
Will turning off Quotes delete quotes I've already sent?
No — existing quotes are preserved, you just won't see the tab until you turn the feature back on.
Can different projects for the same client have different features enabled?
Yes — feature toggles are set per project, not per client.
Why don't I see a Deliverables tab on my internal project?
Deliverables are tied to invoicing a client, so this tab isn't available on internal projects regardless of the feature toggle.
