Revert an approval
Revert an approval
If a client approves a quote by mistake, or circumstances change before any billing has started, you can undo the approval and put the quote back into a sendable state — as long as no milestones have been created from it yet.
- Open the approved quote from the project's Quotes tab.
- Select Revert Approval.
- Optionally add a reason for your own records.
- Confirm. The client's recorded approval is deleted and the quote returns to Sent status, using the same link the client already has.
If the quote's approval had also activated the project, and no other version of the agreement is currently approved, the project reverts to waiting on signature.
Good to know
- Only an Owner or Admin can revert an approval — it's treated the same as other sensitive, client-affecting actions.
- You can't revert an approval once its line items have been converted into milestones. Remove or detach those milestones first if you need to revert.
- Reverting doesn't send the client an automatic email — if they need to know, tell them directly.
- This action can't be undone once confirmed, so use it deliberately.
FAQs
Will my client be notified if I revert their approval?
No — Handl doesn't send an automatic notification, so follow up with them yourself if needed.
I already converted the quote to milestones — can I still revert?
Not directly. You'd need to remove the generated milestones first.
Does reverting delete the quote itself?
No — the quote and its content stay intact; only the client's signature and approved status are removed.
