Push your invoices to Xero and QuickBooks

Once an invoice is ready in Handl, you can push it straight into Xero or QuickBooks as a draft, instead of re-entering it by hand.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations and find the Xero or QuickBooks card.
  2. Click Connect and authorise Handl through the provider's sign-in pop-up.
  3. On an invoice, choose to push it to your accounting system.
  4. Handl matches the client to an existing contact by name. If it can't find a confident match, you'll be asked to map it to the right contact yourself, the first time.
  5. The invoice appears in Xero or QuickBooks as a draft, ready for your usual accounting workflow.

Good to know

  • This is a one-way push — Handl sends the invoice across, but payment status isn't pulled back. Keep tracking payments in Handl as the source of truth.
  • Contact mapping only needs doing once per client — Handl remembers the match for next time.
  • If the connection needs re-authorising, you'll see a "Reconnect Required" status on the integration card (see "Fix a disconnected integration").

FAQs

Does this replace my accounting software? No — Handl pushes the invoice across as a draft; you still finalise, categorise, and reconcile it in Xero or QuickBooks as normal.

What if the client name doesn't match a Xero/QuickBooks contact? You'll be prompted to map it manually the first time — after that, the mapping is remembered.

Can I connect both Xero and QuickBooks at once? You can, though most agencies only use one.
