Fix a disconnected integration
Fix a disconnected integration
Integrations occasionally need reconnecting — a token expires, a permission changes, or the other app revokes access. Here's how to spot it and fix it without losing anything you've already synced.
Steps
- Go to Settings → Integrations.
- Look for a card showing a Reconnect Required badge — it also shows the underlying error so you know what went wrong.
- Click Reconnect and sign in again through the pop-up.
- Handl keeps everything already synced and simply refreshes the connection — nothing is lost.
- If a connection shows as connected but nothing new is coming through, look for an "Action required: sync now" prompt and click Sync now.
Good to know
- This applies the same way across every integration — project management tools, time trackers, Slack, and your accounting connection.
- Reconnecting doesn't affect anything already synced or any project links you've set up — it only refreshes the connection itself.
- Avoid Disconnect unless you genuinely want to remove the integration — the confirmation prompt warns that it permanently deletes synced tasks and project links, which Reconnect never does.
- A connected integration that's never actually run a sync will show its own prompt so you don't mistake "connected" for "up to date."
FAQs
Will reconnecting create duplicate data? No — reconnecting refreshes the existing connection rather than creating a new one.
What's the difference between Reconnect and Disconnect? Reconnect fixes a broken connection while keeping everything you've synced; Disconnect removes the integration entirely, including synced tasks and project links.
Why does an integration keep disconnecting? Usually because access was revoked or a password changed on the other end — check the error shown on the card for the specific reason.
